Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company

4 Established in 1857, the Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company began its journey as an assessment co-operative fire insurance provider in the charming town of Claverack, nestled within the picturesque Columbia County of New York.

In 1957, a strategic merger with the Livingston Town Insurance Company, hailing from Livingston, New York, took place, resulting in the continued success and growth of the Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company as the surviving entity.

Embracing change and evolution, the company adopted the name Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company in 1971, reflecting its cooperative nature and commitment to the community.

Aiming to further broaden its horizons, the company expanded its charter in 1984 to encompass the entirety of New York State, except for the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island.

The Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company

In the dawn of the 20th century, the year 1900 witnessed the birth of a unique insurance venture, The Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company. Originally established by the Granges of Westchester and Putnam counties, the company was formed exclusively to serve the needs of Grange members.

Operating under the moniker “Westchester & Putnam Patrons’ Fire Relief Association,” the company provided dedicated services to its members for over four decades until 1941. As the 1960s unfolded, the company seized the opportunity to expand its horizons by reaching out to clients beyond the Grange membership, diversifying its customer base.

This expansion in both territory and operations rendered the original name of “Westchester & Putnam Patrons’ Fire Relief Association” less representative of the company’s new ambitions. Thus, in a bid to better encapsulate its growing identity, the name Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company was adopted.

Continuing its legacy of growth and collaboration, the Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company formed an affiliation with the Claverack Cooperative in 2015, strengthening its position in the market and providing an even broader array of services to its valued customers.

Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company

In the quaint Town of Roxbury, New York, the year 1936 marked the inception of the Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company. Founded with the aim of conducting business as an assessment co-operative fire insurance provider, the company sought to serve the local community with dedication and integrity.

As the years progressed, 1987-88 witnessed a pivotal moment in the company’s history. Three smaller cooperatives merged with the Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company, culminating in the formation of the resilient Midrox Insurance Company as the surviving entity. Concurrently, the company’s charter evolved to encompass the entirety of New York State, with the exception of the bustling five boroughs of New York City and the vibrant Long Island region.

In a strategic move to fortify its presence in the insurance market, Midrox Insurance Company entered into an affiliation with the Mid-Hudson Co-Operative in 2018. This partnership has allowed both companies to benefit from their combined expertise and provide an even more comprehensive range of insurance services to their valued clientele.

With a particular emphasis on serving rural businesses, Midrox Insurance Company has continued to cater to the needs of the communities that have been the bedrock of its success.
