With our exclusive affiliation to Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company, Midrox Insurance Company, and Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company, providing access to a broad base of services, coverage types, and expanded offerings with consistent, stable rates we are a cost-effective partner in the insurance industry to agents and clients in New York State. We take pride in our firmly held commitment to putting people first.

The new affiliation with Statewide allows each of the three companies to offer its agents more choices, greater ease of doing business through operational consolidation, and most importantly; greater flexibility when shopping insurance on behalf of their clients. Statewide offers relevant products at competitive pricing with timely service.

Collectively as SWUS, the combined underwriting companies now boasts more than 300 agents, 360 years of experience, and coverage of the entire geographic footprint of New York State.

While many insurance companies operate as stock companies, Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company, Midrox Insurance Company, and Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company all function as “mutual” companies, which are entirely owned by their policyholders. This model allows Statewide to maintain its commitment to the long-term interests of its agents and policyholders, as opposed to the short-term pressures and demands of stockholders.

Our History...

1857 - Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company

Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company was organized in 1857 to transact business as an assessment co-operative fire insurance company in the Town of Claverack, Columbia County, New York.

1900 - Westchester & Putnam Patrons’ Fire Relief Association

The Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company was formed in 1900 under the name “Westchester & Putnam Patrons’ Fire Relief Association” by the Granges of Westchester and Putnam counties to serve Grange members only

1936 - Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company

Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company was organized to transact business as an assessment co-operative fire insurance company in the Town of Roxbury, New York, mostly focused on rural business.

1941 - Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company

Due to the increases in territory and operations, the old name “Westchester & Putnam Patrons’ Fire Relief Association”, no longer seemed to apply. So, the name Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company was chosen

1957 - Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company

A merger was affected between Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company and the Livingston Town Insurance Company, of Livingston, New York, with the Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company being the surviving corporation

1960s - Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company

By the mid 1960’s, Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company started to solicit business from outside the Grange membership

1971 - Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company

In 1971 Claverack Town Fire Insurance Company changed its name to Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company.

1984 - Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company

In 1984 the charter was expanded to include all of New York State excluding the five boroughs of New York and Long Island.

1987-88 - Midrox Insurance Company

A merger between 3 small cooperatives and Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance company with the new Midrox Insurance Company being the surviving entity. Along the way, the charter was expanded to include all of New York State excluding the five boroughs of New York and Long Island.

2015 - Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company / Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company.

Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company and Claverack Cooperative Insurance Company entered into an Affiliation.

2018 - Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company / Midrox Insurance Company

Mid-Hudson Co-Operative Insurance Company and Midrox Insurance Company entered into an Affiliation.
