INSTRUCTOR: IVAN COHEN
Ivan Cohen, RF, ARM, CRM, CIC, AIC, AAI, MLIS, CRIS has served as an expert on insurance matters for the NYS Department of Financial Services on the Insurance Exam Review Committee and Prometric’s national insurance test development. He was a senior adjunct professor at Westchester Community College and an instructor for the Risk and Insurance Management Society, The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, the Professional Insurance Agents organization, Independent Insurance Agents, and Brokers of New York, Inc. He is a member of the Global Risk Management Institute, an associate member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and is a RIMS Fellow. He also serves as a Litigation consultant and expert witness through Insurance Education Corporation and is a contributing insurance columnist for Risk Management Magazine.

Risk management focuses on the ability to recognize and correct any faulty and potentially harmful conditions that exist and could lead to a catastrophic loss. This course is designed to help insurance professionals gain a competitive edge by learning how to apply risk management techniques to better serve their personal and commercial clients by uncovering existing exposures and presenting alternative solutions to correct them. The course will utilize the five steps of the risk management process – Risk Identification, Analysis, Control, Financing, and Administration – and present actual applications to current situations. Insurance utilization as part of the risk management process and its application will also be covered.
Case Studies on the Reality of Insurance & Ethics (Bridge)
(PM Session: 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.)
This course analyzes and assesses ethical issues inherent in the insurance industry and the situations they create for agents and brokers. It will develop an understanding of basic ethics and ethical behavior. Detailed application of cause and effect will be discussed using case studies relevant to various insurance issues and their ethical implications.
